It seems glaringly obvious to me that the only way forward is for a
Public Enquiry to be held. Only then can we say with honesty that we are
serious about justice for the Chhokar family and about our intentions
for the future.
Linda Fabiani MSP

2nd July 2001

I hope you have received support from all the candidates in this
election as the issue of racism has been high on the agenda over the
past few months; and I hope that candidates and parties are beginning to
realise that racism is not acceptable and that as a society we must take
responsibility for the failings of our systems and ensure people receive
fair and equal support, protection and justice in the future.
Therefore please accept this email as my support for your campaign.
I support the Chhokar family's request that there should be a full and
independent Public enquiry into the Criminal Justice System's handling
of the case in respect of the murder of their son, Surjit Singh Chhokar.
Good luck in the future and please pass my regards to the Chhokar
family.
