Chhokar Family Justice Campaign
C/O Scottish Fire Brigades Union, 4th Floor,
52 St. Enoch Square, Glasgow, G1 4AA

We are demanding a public inquiry into this case, the manner in which racist attacks are investigated in Scotland and how the Crown Office treats families and victims. The support you can give is critical. There are a number of things that you can do:

  1. Pass motions/ resolutions in support of the campaign and invite speakers.

  2. Make donations to the campaign, cheques should be made out to the "Chhokar Family Justice Campaign" and sent to the above address. Funds are badly needed in order to be able to keep the campaign going, keeping supporters informed as well as pursuing other legal options.

  3. Write to the Lord Advocate at Advocates Library, 21 Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1LA. calling for a public inquiry and for the family to be given full explanations for the Crown’s actions. Also write to the First minister and the Justice Minister, at the Scottish Parliament HQ, Edinburgh EH1. e-mail them on scottish.ministers@scotland.gov.uk

  4. Inform other trade unionists, organisations and individuals about the campaign. Send them details and information about the campaign (copy the information from the web site, or ask them to visit the web site).

  5. Ask all your parliamentary candidates/branches to sign the petition for a public inquiry (download a MS Word copy by RIGHT clicking your mouse here  and choosing the "save target as.." command; or open an html version of the petition and print it out).

The struggle for justice is not over. The Chhokar family have suffered a tragic loss, which cannot be compensated for; but their struggle for justice is part of a struggle for a society based not on one’s colour, religion or creed but on the principles of freedom, justice and equality. We thank you for your support and solidarity.
