Helen & Jon
Helen gave up a degree in Microbiology to study her first love – food!
She trained at the Silwood Kitchens in Cape Town, South Africa where she lived for 6 years, gaining many accolades as an outstanding student (Student of the year for 2 consecutive years).
Since gaining her qualifications Helen has worked in many fields of the catering industry from top-class restaurants & hotels through to contract caterers.
Some of her achievements will be seen by the certificates on display.
In September 2001 Helen was awarded a bronze medal by the Craft Guild of Chefs at the Foodservice Festival at Olympia, against such competition as the Savoy, Meridian and Dorchester hotels this is an achievement of which she is very proud.
Jon trained at Stratford-upon-Avon College gaining a Diploma in Hotel, Catering & Institutional Management Operations and went on to work for Trusthouse Forte for over 5 years and subsequently followed a career in sales management of commercial catering equipment.
Helen & Jon have run a successful restaurant in the Forest of Dean for the last 3 years which has been featured in The Good Food Guide since their arrival in 2001.
Having previously lived in Shrewsbury they are looking forward to moving back to Shropshire near family & friends, of which they hope to make many more!
