Books

Five books are used for identification and cooking purposes:

  1. Mushrooms and Toadstools [Edmund Garnweidner, Collins]

  2. Mushrooms and Other Fungi [Geoffrey Kibby, Dragon's World]

  3. Mushrooms and Other Fungi of Great Britain and Europe [Roger Phillips, Macmillan]

  4. Encyclopedia of Fungi of Britain and Europe [Michael Jordan, David and Charles]

  5. The Wild Mushroom Cookbook [Joy O. I. Spoczynska, Green Print]

The  first is a small, glossy book that can be taken on forays if required.
Good colour photos in-situ and good descriptions, plus some unusual types.

The second is a small book of water-colour paintings which show the specimens similar to
their real-life look. My first buy. Descriptions good and some unusual types.

The third is my main book as it has studio photos plus very detailed descriptions
you could use if you had access to a microscope [I don't].

The fourth is similar to number three but the photos are in situ rather than in studio

The fifth is a small cook book of soups, snacks and main courses using various wild mushrooms
